Here are answers to some of the questions you may have regarding classes and purchasing shoes:
Q. Do we have to enrol to join in a class? A. Yes, definitely. Unlike a lot of other teachers, we limit the numbers in our classes according to venue size and teachers available, so everyone gets a fair amount of tuition.
Q. We are a couple and want to join a class - do we have to change partners? A. No, you don't have to change partners unless you want to. The majority of people joining our classes come along as couples and, unlike a lot of other teachers, we recognise the fact that you want to learn to dance together, not with strangers.
Q. Do I have to have a partner to join in a class? A. No, you don't have to have a partner but if you have one it makes life a lot easier for you with regards to practice. We do have both men and women who come along on their own and when you enrol we will be able to give you an idea if there are any other people coming along who would be available to dance with you. We don't believe in making promises that there will be lots of men or women available in a class to dance with you.
Q. Do you have other classes we can go on to once we have finished the Beginners course? A. Yes, we have Improvers classes and available throughout the year.
Q. We just want to learn how to Waltz. How can we learn just one dance? A. Your best option is to have some private lessons. These are one-on-one with one or our teachers and you just learn the dance you want to. Cost is $30/half hour.
Q. We are getting married soon. How can we learn to dance for our first dance together? A. If you have plenty of time, join in one of our Social Dance Classes. Talk to us about your wedding dance and the music you want to dance to and we will be able to advise you as to which dance you could do. If you wish, you can book a private lesson closer to the time to work out how you are going to get onto the floor, plan out your dance to your floor size and how you are going to finish. Another option is to do our Wedding Dance Course consisting of four one-hour private lessons, just the two of you and one teacher, during which time we will teach you a dance to do to your special music. A great option if time is of the essence and if you don't enjoy learning in a class situation.
Q. There is a group of us at work who want to learn how to dance. Do you do group lessons? A. Yes, please talk to us about what exactly you want to achieve and we can work out a suitable time to take your group together. Costs will depend on group size and number of teachers required.
Please feel free to send us any other questions you may have that we can add to this list.
Q. Do you have a shop I can go to to see your shoes? A. We don't have a shop that is open regular hours. We have the shoes set up in a Showroom in our home in Te Atatu Peninsula and you will need to phone for an appointment to come and try on shoes. This means that you are not jostling for the attention of a shop assistant, plus you are being looked after by someone who teaches dancing and knows all about dance shoes! We can also arrange for you to view/try on shoes in Mt Wellington by arrangement during the day. |
